A recent British television drama ‘Mr. Bates vs The Post Office’ has brought to light one of the biggest cases of injustice in Britain, where between 1999 and 2015, over 900 Sub-postmasters were prosecuted for theft, false accounting, and fraud, when losses at their branches were in fact due to malfunctioning software in the Post Office’s Horizon accounting software. A number of those prosecuted were imprisoned, others lost their homes, and careers, experienced financial ruin, and four have committed suicide. The T/V drama has sparked widespread public outcry and calls for justice.
